The historic $5 Million ClubWPT Gold Invitational Freeroll next weekend will feature hundreds of recreational players from around the world all competing for life-changing money at Wynn Las Vegas. But there will also be a good mix of pros, content creators, and non-poker personalities competing in the record-breaking event.
Never before has the poker world seen a freeroll with a pot even close to as massive as what we're all about to witness Dec. 13-15 on the Las Vegas Strip. The tournament is one of many highlights of the third annual World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship festival, a series that includes the return of the $10,400 WPT World Championship, a tournament that had a $40 million prize pool last year.

Barstool Sports Personality Will Try to Not Punt
There will be at least one Barstool Sports personality in attendance during the ClubWPT Gold freeroll. Eric "Barstool Nate" Nathan, who previously hosted the Cracking Aces poker podcast, will be heading out west next week to take his shot at the $1 million first place prize.
Nate won a ClubWPT Golden Passport and he shared the congratulatory message he received with his 130,000 X followers. The Washington Commanders fanatic is also giving away 1% of his potential cash in the freeroll to three X followers who made a Barstool Sports store purchase during a Black Friday sale.

Nate doesn't shy away from the fact that he's, by his own admission, punted some major events in the past, including a couple times in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. He did, however, cash in 717th place in the Main Event this past summer, and it was the last live tournament he's played.
The longtime Barstool Sports personality tweeted that he is "extremely excited to play" the freeroll, and "let us pray I don't punt." Avoiding the punt and running deep in the freeroll should make his Barstool Sports boss, Dave Portnoy, happy.
PokerNews Podcasters, "Chainsaw" to Compete
Two members of the PokerNews Podcast— Kyna England and Mike Holtz — have won tickets into the historic freeroll at Wynn. Holtz, an online poker crusher, has $765,000 in live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob. England, a Chicago area native, has over $1 million in cashes and was the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Season 12 Player of the Year.
The duo of PokerNewspodcasters will be joined in the $5 million tournament by a number of other familiar faces from within the poker world, including longtime WSOP announcer Lon McEachern and Allen Kessler, who won a Golden Passport through a drawing Xuan Liu held.
There are still plenty of opportunities for poker players to win a Golden Passport into the $5 million freeroll. ClubWPT Gold will be giving away 300 seats via satellites in the coming days and various contests. Players are also encouraged to visit the ClubWPT Golden Tree booth at Wynn Dec. 8-12 for additional opportunities to snag a Golden Passport (you can also win other prizes such as a McLaren GTS luxury car).

- In Rummy 51, jokers are strong wild cards that, when used carefully, can greatly improve your game. Including them in your melds as soon as you can is a good method to optimize their potential. You can finish melds fast and effectively by substituting jokers for missing cards in sets or runs because they can represent any card. 25-01-15
- It is essential to develop a winning mindset in order to succeed in Rummy 51. This entails cultivating mental toughness and emotional regulation in addition to comprehending the game's rules and tactics. Confidence is the foundation of a winning mindset; players need to have faith in their capacity to make wise choices & modify their tactics as the game progresses. With practice and experience, this confidence can be strengthened & players can get more accustomed to the different situations they might run into while playing. Keeping a positive outlook can also help players remain attentive and involved even in the face of difficulties or disappointments. 25-01-15
- Until one player successfully lays down every card in a valid meld, the round is over. House rules can affect scoring, but generally speaking, players receive points for melds they lay down and penalties for unmelded cards they keep in their hands. Since players must strike a balance between advancing their own goals and thwarting their opponents, this scoring system introduces another level of strategy. As players gain more experience, they will learn that Rummy 51 is more than just a game of chance; it calls for strategic thinking, acute observation, and flexibility in response to shifting conditions. 25-01-15
- Because every card that remains in play has the potential to help an opponent complete their melds, players should be strategic about what they discard. For instance, it might be a good idea to hold onto a card for a few turns or discard it in a way that doesn't reveal your strategy if you have no use for it but observe that your opponent has been picking up cards that are similar. Players can also trick opponents into showing their hands by using the discard pile. You can force your opponent to make tough choices while opening up opportunities for yourself by discarding cards that appear harmless but could actually aid them in finishing a meld. Competent players who know how to influence their opponents' perceptions can take advantage of this psychological element of rummy, which adds another level of complexity to the game. 25-01-15
- For example, keeping any heart cards in your hand could seriously interfere with your opponent's plans if they have been picking up a lot of hearts. The results of the game can be significantly impacted by this straightforward but powerful strategy since it restricts your opponents' options and compels them to change their approach. The secret to preventing success is strategic discarding. Strategic discarding is another advanced blocking technique. 25-01-15
- In Rummy 51, discarding cards is equally as crucial as drawing them, and your success can be significantly impacted by a sound strategy for this part of the game. Discarding high-point cards early in the game if they don't add to your current melds is a good tactic. If your opponent goes out before you, high-point cards can be harmful because they will significantly reduce your score. You reduce your risk & maintain a leaner, easier-to-manage hand by eliminating these cards early on. 25-01-15
- Rather than just throwing away any unwanted cards, think about what your opponents might gain the most from if they were to pick them up. Choose to discard a low-value card that doesn't add to your melds if you can, for instance, or choose to discard a card that might assist an opponent in finishing a run or set. By restricting their options & putting them in less advantageous positions, this proactive strategy not only keeps your hand safe but also puts pressure on your opponents. An interesting feature of Rummy 51 that gives gameplay depth and excitement is bluffing. 25-01-15
- Sets are composed of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits, whereas sequences are composed of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. You can improve your gameplay considerably by learning to recognize these patterns. You are only one card away from finishing a sequence, for example, if you have a 4, 5, & 6 of diamonds. Knowing this will help you decide which cards to draw and which to discard first. 25-01-15
- Also, you can learn about possible sequences your opponents might be creating by monitoring the suits they are playing. This information can help you decide which cards to keep or discard. Understanding Rummy 51's Blocking Technique. One of the more complex Rummy 51 strategies that calls for strategic foresight & acute observation is blocking opponents. 25-01-15
