The countdown has begun for the second annual PokerStars North American Poker Tour (NAPT) stop at Resorts World in Las Vegas, and this year's edition comes with $4 million in guarantees.
Action begins on the Strip Nov. 1, and the series runs through Nov. 10. There will be many similarities to the 2023 festival at Resorts. But also plenty of new tournaments on the schedule, which you can view below.
Here's What to Look Out For
Play starts at noon PT on Nov. 1 with the first — and then second later in the day — of five Day 1 starting flights for the $550 Mystery Bounty event. The no-limit hold'em tournament promises a combined prize pool of at least $300,000. Day 2 takes place Nov. 4, the same day the tournament is scheduled to play down to a winner.
Poker players will notice a few new branded events at the NAPT in Las Vegas this year. Cardplayer Lifestyle and the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) will have some branded events, starting with the $1,100 RunGood Poker Open on Nov. 4, a $400,000 guaranteed tournament. Cardplayer Lifestyle has three branded NAPT events on the schedule — $550 H.E.R.O.S. (Nov. 7), $5,300 8-Game (Nov. 8), and $550 8-Game (Nov. 9).
PokerStars, the world's leading online poker site, is also hosting a $30,000 guaranteed Ladies Event Nov. 5, which costs $330 to enter. And of course the biggest event of them all — $5,300 Main Event — starts Nov. 5 at noon.
The Main Event features a $3 million guaranteed prize pool and three Day 1 starting flights. Sami Bechahed, a former poker deal, took down last year's NAPT Las Vegas Main Event for $268,945, beating out 1,095 entrants. The entry fee in 2023 was $1,650, but the price of poker is going up this year.
The NAPT Las Vegas series will wrap on Nov. 10 with the Main Event final table — Day 5. PokerNews will be on-site throughout the series providing live reporting updates for each tournament, along with exclusive feature stories from Resorts World.

- He can cause confusion & deceive his opponents about the makeup of his own hand by occasionally discarding cards that might appear valuable or pertinent to their possible melds. This strategy gives his gameplay a sense of unpredictability while simultaneously safeguarding his own interests. Any serious Rummy player must be able to discard effectively, which calls for a deep comprehension of both one's own strategy and the tendencies of opponents. In rummy, the skill of reading opponents' hands can give players crucial information about their plans & tactics. 24-12-24

- He might decide to discard one or more of his high-value cards in favor of lower-value cards that would make it easier for him to construct runs or sets, for instance, if he finds himself holding several of them with no immediate chance of melding them. By taking this proactive stance, he reduces the risk involved in holding onto valuable cards while maintaining hand flexibility. The ability to discern when to break up possible mergers for increased strategic advantage is another crucial component of hand management. Dismantling a promising card combination may seem counterintuitive, but Ares understands that doing so occasionally creates new opportunities for more skillful melding of other combinations. He might decide to break up the first combination in favor of pursuing a more advantageous strategy overall, for example, if he recognizes that another suit offers better chances for completing additional melds after holding three consecutive cards in that suit. Ares's ability to adjust and reevaluate his hand consistently distinguishes him as a strong player. 24-12-24
- Throwing away cards that could give opponents the impression that he is pursuing a specific meld while actually working toward another objective is one of his favorite bluffing strategies. If Ares discards a high-value card from one suit while keeping a number of cards from another, for example, he might give opponents the impression that he is attempting to finish a set in the first suit when, in reality, he is concentrating on making a run in the second. Ares is also aware that bluffing effectively calls for self-assurance and constant conduct. Opponents may notice and grow suspicious if he makes certain movements while displaying signs of uncertainty or anxiety. 24-12-24
- Ares stresses the value of prioritizing runs and maintaining a record of which cards have been thrown out. He is able to decide which cards to keep and which to discard with knowledge thanks to this awareness. Ares might decide to completely forgo collecting cards from a certain suit, for instance, if he observes that an opponent has discarded a number of high-value cards in that suit. Alternatively, he could concentrate on creating melds in other suits where he has a higher probability of finishing his hand. This strategic insight not only increases his chances of success but also gives his opponents a psychological advantage since they might grow more suspicious of his intentions. Discarding is a crucial component of rummy that has a big impact on how the game turns out. 24-12-24
